Loire Valley Barge Cruise

Itinerary:

Sunday
Meet at the Paris hotel chosen by the chartering party at 2:00 pm and travel by private motorcoach to Montargis to board ‘Le Bon Vivant.’ After a welcome reception, enjoy a short cruise before dinner.

Monday
Cruise from Amilly to Montbouy, an old Gallo-Roman site. Possible excursions include the magnificent Château de Fontainebleau and the Impressionist villages of Barbizon and Moret-sur-Loing.

Tuesday
Cruise from Montbouy to Châtillon Coligny with its 12th-century château overlooking the town, built by the Count of Sancerre. Possible excursions include the Arboretum des Barres with more than 10,000 tree specimens and the beautiful Château la Bussières.

Wednesday
Cruise from Châtillon Coligny to Rogny and moor at the foot of the staircase of seven locks, an impressive tribute to the engineers of the past. Possible excursions include Château de St-Fargeau and the town of Gien.

Thursday
Cruise from Rogny to Ouzouer-sur-Trezee with its Gothic church and picturesque wooden houses. Possible excursions include the charming village of Sancerre and Briare with its museum dedicated to the porcelain buttons that made the town famous.

Friday
Cruise from Ouzouer-sur-Trezee through the splendid aqueduct over the River Loire to the peaceful village of Châtillon-sur-Loire. Possible excursions include a wine tasting at Pouilly sur Loire and la Charité-sur-Loire with its ancient 11th-century abbey.

Saturday
After breakfast, transfer back to Paris by private motorcoach.

'Le Bon Vivant' is only available as a full charter. With 8 people the cost is $623 per person per day.
