Alaskan Dream Cruises

Alaskan Dream Cruises operates 3 small ships in Southeast Alaska. Their tag line is "True Alaska with true Alaskans". They offer 8 to 13 day cruises focused on spotlighting scenic beauty, amazing wildlife, and intriguing native culture.

Ships - One ship holds 42 guests and the other two have room for 66 guests. Cabins are small - basic73 to 95 sq ft and deluxe from 117 to 120 sq ft. There are a few owners suites that are larger. Bathrooms are "wet" meaning that the shower is not separate from sink and toilet - there is a curtain that provides some separation.

Shore excursions - one (sometimes two) shore excursions are included at every port at no extra charge. These excursions showcase true Alaskan adventure and colorful native heritage.

Life aboard - in addition to chef inspired gourmet meals, each day ends with a complimentary cocktail hour where the days experiences can be discussed. Other inclusions are:

  • Complimentary Alaskan gear includes jacket, pants and boots for use during the cruise
  • High power and light weight binoculars in each stateroom for use on the cruise.
  • Skilled guides to introduce you to history, culture, wildlife and science of the area
  • Use of kayaks and other small watercraft for an even closer view

The dress and atmosphere is casual. Guests are surrounded by the knowledgeable, genuinely friendly staff and accompanied by interesting people who share a passion for adventure and learning. The relaxed casual ambiance lets Alaska's awe-inspiring beauty really shine.

Costs - standard cabins (middle of the price range) will range from $350 to $500 pp per night. This price is all inclusive of shore excursions, equipment, food and happy hour drinks.

Evaluation - these ships are "yacht experiences" - small cabins and limited bathrooms but shore excursions and equipment are included at no extra charge. While the emphasis is on adventure, you don't have to be a skilled outdoorsman to enjoy the cruise. Both crew and excursion staff are knowledge and eager to show off their Alaska.
