Majestic America Line

Steamship Mississippi Queen

The idea behind the Mississippi Queen was as ambitious as it was original: Why not combine the amenities of a modern cruise ship with the romance and charm of a 19th century sternwheeler? Why not sheathe it in steel and incorporate the latest in propulsion design – while offering interiors that embody Victorian grace? That was the vision that led to the debut of the Mississippi Queen, one of the best known ships on America’s rivers today.

With seven decks and more than a football field in length, the Mississippi Queen is large enough to offer multiple lounges and gathering places, stocked library, a theatre, pool and exercise room. Her ambiance is that of a stately Southern home. In the afternoons, the sun slants through white lace curtains, dappling patterns on plush carpets. Overstuffed chairs invite you to relax. Crystal chandeliers and live music enliven the dining room each evening. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the Port Gallery offer ever-changing views.

Sit on the back deck and enjoy a mint julep. Visit the ship's Discovery Guide in the Wheel House to learn about the history and culture of the places you’ll see. Imagine how, when the dancer Ginger Rogers descended the Grand Staircase, all heads would turn. It’s easy to see why the Mississippi Queen is a perennial guest favorite.
