Variety Cruises is the largest Small Ships Cruise Company World-Wide with a fleet of over 11 fully owned vessels offering a total yachting experience. With sizes varying from 4 to 36 cabins, our private yachts and small ships allow our passengers to visit well known destinations or to discover unique and more private ports of call in a private, convivial and relaxed environment.
Fine cuisine, with a strong local flavour, exciting itineraries blending well known ports of call and less know gems of the Mediterranean and personalized service have positioned the company as the choice for an ever growing number of cruise goers looking for a small ship cruise experience.
The Ships - the ship focus should be largely on the 3 larger ships that hold 40 to 50 guests. One of them, the Panorama, is a motor sailing yacht with 25 cabins. She spends most of her time in and around the Greek islands and the Adriatic visiting Croatia and surrounding countries. The other ships, Harmony and Variety Voyager, spend the bulk of their time in the Mediterranean with side trips to Costa Rica and West Africa in the winters.
All of the ships are sleek and modern - reminiscent of something that James Bond might find attractive. Cabins are mostly large and very well appointed - the whole atmosphere says luxury. Cabins on the Panorama are smaller as befits a sailing ship but they maintain the standards of luxury found in the others.
Life on Board - casual atmosphere and elegant surroundings. Some itineraries focus on luxury yachting (Southern France) others offer opportunities for casual water sports (all included). While luxurious, the experience is not all inclusive. Like most cruises, passengers will pay for shore excursions, gratuities, and drinks on board.
Cost - there is significant difference in price between the larger sleek yachts and the smaller ships and sailing ships. Generally the larger more luxurious ships will have prices for a standard cabin that will range from about $600 to $800 per person per night. Some of the other ships sailing in the Seychelles and Costa Rica have prices that are a little less - about $300 to $400 pp pn.
Itineraries - emphasize the small, out-of-the way ports that larger ships just don't visit. Some examples:
