Voyages to Antiquity

Combining the comfort of boutique-style cruising with the very best of cultural travel, Voyages to Antiquity offers an opportunity to explore the origins and genius of western civilization, as well as the fascinating culture of the Orient.

The meticulously planned itineraries, celebrated guest speakers, and included shore excursions will bring to life the fascinating history and awe-inspiring sites of the ancient world.

It is a cruise experience that is not only for the amateur or professional historian but also for people who simply want to understand the history, art, myths and culture of the ancient world.  A Voyage to Antiquity cruise to the Mediterranean aims to open a window into the origins and genius of western civilization.

The founders of the company were also pioneers of cruising in the Far East. Using this local knowledge, we have created a winter cruise-tour program which reveals the fascinating past and exotic landscapes of this extraordinary part of the world.

The journeys, however, are not only about history. As well as visiting breathtaking archaeological treasures you will also see some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and experience the magnificent food of the Mediterranean and The Orient.

Outstanding Value - the philosophy is to make the cruises all-inclusive. Inclusions are:

Guest Lecturers - the thing that separates a Voyages to Antiquity cruise from others on similar itineraries are the lecturers.

They are celebrated speakers have been carefully selected for their knowledge of the art, history, archaeology, architecture, wine and cuisine of the areas we visit. Their informative and enlightening talks will entertain and bring to life the history of the remarkable civilisations and cultures of the Mediterranean and the Far East.

The Ship - MV AEGEAN ODYSSEY is a premium class ship that was rebuilt to cater for cruising in the coastal waters of the central and eastern Mediterranean. The vessel provides the best features of a mid-size ship such as gracious public rooms, a choice of restaurants and stability in inclement weather.

Originally a vessel carrying up to 570 passengers, Aegean Odyssey's new configuration includes generously-sized suites, junior suites and staterooms with and without balconies. She now carries an average of 350 passengers. By creating these new staterooms we have added a dimension of spaciousness to the vessel and this has enabled us to create a special level of accommodation entitled "Balcony Class".

Classically elegant, but far from stuffy and formal, Aegean Odyssey has been designed to offer the sophisticated traveller every comfort at sea. With tastefully understated interiors, Aegean Odyssey  combines the best of traditional elegance with all the modern conveniences of a first-class ship.

She offers the personal service and intimate surroundings of a small ship,  has the ability to visit ports that are too small for larger vessels, navigate close to scenic islands of the Adriatic and Mediterranean, as well as berth upriver in the heart of Bangkok, Yangon and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Cabins - have been considerably enlarged by the renovation that  changed the ship from 570 passenger capacity to 350. Categories A through D are balcony cabins with more than 200 sq ft of space. Premium ocean view cabins are also quite large - around 180 to 200 sq ft. The rest of the ocean view and inside cabins are a little smaller than average (130 sq ft) but still comfortably laid out.

Life on Board - dress on board is country club casual - no need for formal attire. The gastronomic culture of the Mediterranean - using the very best fresh local ingredients cooked in a simple but delicious and healthy style - is the inspiration for the three restaurants on Aegean Odyssey. The entertainment is focused on lectures related to things seen or to be seen. The whole atmosphere it elegant without being stuffy.

Cost - in addition to the standard inclusions there are often other specials such as included air or waived single supplements. The fare in a standard ocean view cabin (the 180 to 200 sq ft version) will be around $450 per person per night including air. This price also includes two night pre and post hotel stays. All in all, considering the standard inclusions - gratuities, shore excursions, beer and wine with meals - a Voyages to Antiquity cruise is a good price for the small ship cruising market.

Itineraries - there is probably not another cruise company that covers the Mediterranean as thoroughly as Voyages to Antiquity. North, south, east, and west and all the islands in between - there is an itinerary in the cruise calendar that will take you there. The cruises range from 15 to 30 days. An example:
