msy Wind Star and Wind Spirit
The Wind Spirit and Wind Star are a motor sail yachts (msy) which means they are powered by both motor and sail. The sails on all of Windstar's ships are unique computer controlled marvels. No more barefooted, barechested sailors swarming the rigging to tend to the sails. The captain pushes a button on the bridge and minutes later the sails are set without further human intervention.
The Wind Star and Wind Spirit are the original sister ships of Windstars' fleet. They were built one year apart in the same ship yard as the larger Wind Surf which was built two years later. Here are some fast facts:
The Ships: Wind Star and Wind Spirit
Passenger Capacity: 148 passengers (based on double occupancy).
Staterooms: 74 total staterooms: 73 deluxe owner's cabin with queen beds (converts to two twins), and dining/sitting area. Some staterooms offer a third berth and some side-by-side staterooms offer and adjoining private door.
Owners Cabin: 220 square feet or 21 square meters.
Crew: 90 international staff. The Captain and nautical staff are European. Hotel senior staff is American and European. Stewards and service personnel are Filipino and Indonesian.
Dining: The Restaurant accommodates all guests. Windstar offers an open seating program allowing guests to dine when and with whom they like. The menus are created by the renowned chef Joachim Splichal of the Patina Group in Lost Angeles. Sail Light and Vegetarian cuisine is developed by Jeanne Jones. The Veranda and Terrace serves breakfast and lunch, while continental breakfast and afternoon tea are served on the Pool Deck.
Water Sports: Complimentary water-skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, and snorkel gear. Scuba diving is available for a fee.
